Young artists produce a video short in this immersion into stop-motion animation! Led by artist and animator Sarah Paulsen, the camp includes animation collages, live action filming, and claymation. Pair Stop-Motion Madness in the morning with the Crazy Comics camp in the afternoon.
Sarah Paulsen lives and works in St. Louis, where she teaches art and animation at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, Saint Louis Art Museum, Marian Middle School, and the St. Louis Community College, Forest Park. With projects ranging from social justice animations and community portraits to parades and murals, Paulsen has exhibited work widely nationally and locally. Recently she has received grants from the Mid-America Arts Alliance, R.A.C., CALOP, and Critical Mass to fund the production of her film Elegy to Connie. Paulsen is a recipient of the RAC Artist Fellowship, is a 2010 Regional Arts Commission CAT Institute fellow, and founded the annual People’s Joy Parade on Cherokee Street. She holds a BA in visual art from the University of Missouri, Columbia, and an MFA from the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Art at Washington University in St. Louis.
