Book Club: Another Country
Sunday, December 11, 1:00 pm
James Baldwin’s groundbreaking novel illuminates how the social dynamics of race, sexuality, gender, and power contort the relationships of a group of artists living in 1950s Greenwich Village. A book of passions, Another Country presents an array of deeply compelling characters caught up in the confusion of their own racial and sexual identities, even as they seek love across divisions of guilt, shame, fear, and rage. Jonathan C. Smith, Saint Louis University Chief Diversity Officer & Assistant Professor of African American Studies, and Eddie Silva, CAM Communications Specialist, will facilitate the discussion. CAM Book Clubs are presented in partnership with Left Bank Books, where attendees can pick up a discounted copy of each season’s book.
