friday, july 14

7:00 pm

$20; $50 VIP ticket includes reserved seating, meet-and-greet with Dave Nadelberg, and complimentary beverages.

CAM presents An Awkward Evening with Dave Nadelberg, creator of the acclaimed stage show/podcast/radio/TV/book series Mortified—where adults share their most embarrassing childhood diaries, poems, letters, artwork, and home movies in front of total strangers. Hailed “a cultural phenomenon” by Newsweek, Mortified has been celebrated by This American Life, Wired, and Entertainment Weekly. The Mortified Podcast ranked among the “best of 2016” by The Guardian and The Atlantic.

This awkward evening includes an exclusive sneak peek of the new documentary/concert film Mortified Nation, the first time shown in public. To contribute a level of authenticity to the whole Mortified project, Nadelberg will read some of his own childhood angst writings and participate in a Q&A with the audience.

Adding to the fun, a brief Mortified Slam will also be part of the event, in which a select group of St. Louisans will share their own cringe-inducing teenage memories. The most mortifying will be awarded the honor of Most Mortified St. Louis and receive a prize from CAM. If you would like to participate, please email mortified@camstl.org your embarassing teenage stories, poems, songs, love letters, and more. A short video is preferred, but written submissions will also be accepted. Performers will be chosen by Friday, June 30.
