Sunday studio: northside workshop

sunday, july 23

11:00 AM–1:00 pm

$10; free for members and Take 5 subscribers.

Northside Workshop founders Juan William Chavez and Kiersten Torrez will lead participants through two experiential projects that incorporate drawing and beekeeping. Equipped with beekeeping veils, the first project will allow participants to observe and draw a live hive inspection in the outdoor studio at Northside Workshop (NSW). Drawing the various stages of a hive inspection will provide the opportunity to see a beekeeper working with a colony of honeybees and to witness what is inside of a hive. The second project will take place in NSW’s classroom where participants will be lead through a series of drawing exercises concentrated on the thought process of social practice. This workshop is focused on presenting social practice within the urban ecosystem and insight into how Chavez and Torrez approach their artwork. Note: Beekeeping veils with be provided. Please wear pants, a long sleeved shirt, and closed toed shoes with socks.
