The work of Trenton Doyle Hancock is profoundly influenced by his life-long fascination with comic books, and the superheroes and villains found in that medium relate to tales told as long as people have been telling stories. Peter Coogan, author of Superhero: The Secret Origin of a Genre, and co-editor of What Is a Superhero?, as well as is Director of the Institute of Comic Studies and co-founder and co-chair of the Comics Arts Conference, will discuss how ancient myths are told and retold through comics, film, video games, and contemporary art.
