He holds a master’s degree in voice at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. Recent engagements include a 2025 debut with Lang Lang and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the Ravinia Music Festival\, and a world premiere of The House on Mango Street at the Glimmerglass Festival. Edmond has been a featured soloist with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Los Angeles Master Chorale. He is an active session singer in the Los Angeles film and television industries\, with credits including Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker\,  Encanto\, Nope\, Wicked.  \nJonathan Heaney is a pianist and vocal coach based in St. Louis\, Missouri. He frequently collaborates with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis\, most recently serving as Associate Music Director for Joshua’s Boots. Upcoming engagements include serving as Repetiteur for Cinderella and A Little Night Music during OTSL’s 2027 Festival Season. He also performs regularly with Union Avenue Opera and Winter Opera St. Louis. Heaney’s previous professional affiliations included The Juilliard School\, Manhattan School of Music\, On Site Opera\, Seagle Festival\, and Brevard Music Center. He holds a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Washington University in St. Louis and a master’s degree in vocal accompaniment from Manhattan School of Music.

Drop-in and make watercolor paintings on found paper\, echoing dela Roche’s materials and process\, while enjoying light bites and a live music set from Jane Wave. \nSchedule \n\n5:00 pm Doors open / Bar opens\n6:00–8:30 pm Music by Jane Wave and drop-in art activity\n\nRegistration is encouraged; please here to register. \nAbout the Artists \nPhoto: Macayli Hausmann.\nLauren dela Roche (b. 1983\, Santa Rosa\, CA) is a self-described queer punk feminist artist whose autodidactic approach integrates a broad range of references\, including zines\, European modernisms\, and autobiography. Though largely self-taught\, her consumption of visual culture and art history allows her to draw upon long artistic traditions\, remixing diverse sources ranging from Egon Schiele’s line work and transgressive cinema to Persian miniatures\, Greek mythology\, and folklore. Dela Roche’s recent work—painted on found\, mended\, and repurposed cotton feed sacks—shows multiplying\, echoing views of a nude woman\, a recurring central character. In her iconic\, fresh style\, her work ties deeply to the land\, agriculture\, ecology\, and systems of caretaking. For nearly a decade\, dela Roche lived off the grid in Northern Minnesota\, building a cabin from found materials and becoming fully self-reliant through farming. She is the recipient of several grants and residencies\, including a 2024 Joan Mitchell Center residency in New Orleans. Dela Roche is represented by Eric Firestone Gallery in New York. Her work is found in the collections of the Minneapolis Institute of Art\, the North Dakota Museum of Art\, and the Hessel Museum of Art at Bard College\, among others. She has resided in the Midwest since young adulthood and currently lives and works near St. Louis. \nJane Wave is the solo experimental project of Sam Pounders\, a self-taught sound artist based in St. Louis\, Missouri. Producing songs in a home studio\, Jane Wave experiments with vocals\, bass-heavy pop rhythms\, found sounds and instrument loops. Weaving traditional music\, primitive punk\, no wave and abstract sound\, Wave’s performances are coordinated and improvised. Wave has performed for the last 10 years in the St. Louis area\, both as a solo musician and as a member in bands such as Swear Beam\, Fried E.M. and Pineapple RnR. Her recent album\, Quality Time is available for streaming on Subvert FM and Bandcamp; a tape release is forthcoming in late 2026.

SUMMARY:Gallery Talk and Film Screening: Every Line Becomes a Circle
DESCRIPTION:CAM is pleased to partner with the 35th Annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival to present a gallery talk and film screening event that explores the world of contemporary art through a cinematic lens. In collaboration with the Goethe-Institut St. Louis\, the event explores connections between CAM’s current exhibitions with new releases that are part of the Festival’s fine arts spotlight.  \nThis year’s screening event celebrates the importance of artistic expression to creative aging. The evening begins with a gallery talk exploring the exhibition of artist Juanita McNeely. Following a welcome reception\, scholar Dr. Brian D. Carpenter and director/producer Lynnette Luis will engage in a gallery conversation with CAM Director of Learning and Engagement Michelle Dezember about McNeely’s epic Triskaidekaptych (1986)\, creative aging\, and the value of artistic practice and appreciation for health resilience and wellbeing. The evening continues with a screening of Every Line Becomes a Circle\, a documentary following 93-year-old German artist Inge Besgen’s decades-long persistence to find herself in post-war Germany and become an artist in her 50s despite many setbacks. Taken together\, the evening explores how life’s experiences—especially memory\, pain\, and reckoning—take on deeper significance and power when explored through painting and abstraction. \nThis event is free and open to the public. Carpenter\, PhD is Professor of Psychological & Brain Sciences​ and Co-Director\, Harvey A. Friedman Center for Aging at Washington University in St. Louis. Professor Carpenter conducts research on the clinical psychology of aging. His research focuses on family relationships in late life\, with a particular emphasis on collaborative family communication and decision-making. \nLynnette Luis is a director/producer from California\, now based in Berlin. She entered the film industry in 1994 with an internship at Paramount and has worked in editing and production for Disney and German TV. She trained at the Koelner Filmhaus and has extensive experience as an assistant director and script supervisor. She directed and produced Every Line Becomes A Circle. \nAbout the film \nEvery Line Becomes A Circle is a powerful documentary about 93-year-old German artist Inge Besgen. Her life and art reflect how every experience and choice shapes who we become. Fleischman Curator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art\, for a conversation with CAM Ferring Foundation Chief Curator Dean Daderko as they trace the artistic journey around the monumental painting Triskaidekaptych\, the centerpiece of CAM’s exhibition of work by Juanita McNeely as part of Counterpublic 2026: Coyote Time. The conversation will expand to include Simon Kelly\, Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Saint Louis Art Museum (SLAM) to offer insight into the simultaneous presentation at SLAM and the complementary first-ever solo presentations of McNeely’s work in her hometown. \nPhoto: Scott Rudd.\nJane Panetta is the Aaron I. Fleischman Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. Panetta joined The Met in 2023\, where she’s ushered in major acquisitions\, recently curating The Genesis Facade Commission: Jeffrey Gibson\, The Animal That Therefore I Am (2025)\, and David Hartt: Peripheries (2026). Additionally\, Panetta is working closely on the museum’s forthcoming Tang Wing for Modern and Contemporary Art. Previously\, Panetta served as the Nancy and Fred Poses Curator and Director of the Collection at the Whitney Museum of American Art\, where she oversaw acquisitions (including work by Juanita McNeely)\, collection displays\, and co-direction of long-term planning for the collection. At the Whitney\, she served on the curatorial team for America Is Hard to See (2015)\, co-curated the 2019 Whitney Biennial\, and organized solo presentations of the work of Njideka Akunyili Crosby\, Willa Nasatir\, Juan Antonio Olivares\, Jennifer Packer\, and Rose B. Simpson. Prior to this\, she worked at The Museum of Modern Art on monographic exhibitions including Edvard Munch: The Modern Life of the Soul (2006)\, Richard Serra: Forty Years (2007)\, and James Ensor (2009). Panetta received her B.A. from Haverford College and her M.A. in Art History from Hunter College and serves on the Madison Square Park Conservancy’s Public Art Consortium.
