DESCRIPTION:Spend an evening experiencing connections between opera and the visual arts with the program series “Artworks and Arias\,” presented by CAM and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis (OTSL). This musical program\, curated by OTSL Gerdine Young Artist Ashlyn Brown\, explores ways that art can act as a force of resistance against challenging times and oppressive ideologies.  \nSchedule \n\n5:00–9:00 pm: Galleries open and drinks available for purchase as a part of CAM’s First Friday\n7:00 pm: Guided exhibition tour\n8:00 pm: Performance begins\n\nAccessibility Notes \n\nSeating is provided on a first come\, first serve basis. If you require seating for accessibility purposes\, please email programs@camstl.org to reserve a seat.\nTo request an American Sign Language (ASL) interpreter for this event\, please contact programs@camstl.org with as much prior notice possible to ensure availability.\n\nAbout the Artist \nAshlyn Brown is a lyric-mezzo soprano making several large role debuts this summer. This season at Opera Theatre of Saint Louis\, Ashlyn will sing Eunice Hubbell (A Streetcar Named Desire) and will cover Stephano (Romeo and Juliet) as well as Margaret Johnson (The Light in the Piazza). After her time at OTSL\, Ashlyn heads to the Music Academy of the West to debut the title role in Elizabeth Cree. \nCareer highlights include: Dorabella (Così fan tutte)\, Stéphano (Roméo et Juliette)\, Flora Bevoix (La Traviata)\, Zweite Adlige Weise (Der Rosenkavalier) and Woman 2/ The Event Planner (The Righteous). Prior engagements include Aspen Music Festival (Fleming Artist)\, the Santa Fe Opera (Apprentice Singer)\, Palm Beach Opera (Apprentice Artist)\, and the Sarasota Opera (Apprentice Artist). She recently workshopped the role of Halyna in The Mothers of Kherson with the Metropolitan Opera.
