SUMMARY:Emerge Seminar
DESCRIPTION:CAM and The Luminary team up for the third season of The Luminary’s popular seminar series\, Emerge. These free programs can be taken á la carte or as a whole suite of professional development for emerging artists looking to gain vital tools and inside knowledge into the professional practices that go into exhibiting and selling art\, managing creative businesses\, and overall artistic development. \nThe Luminary began offering this program series in fall 2022 in direct response to requests made by St. Louis’ creative communities. The workshops\, produced with local leaders in the field\, are practical and directly applicable to artists in the early stages of their careers. The Emerge series expands its reach this season through a partnership with CAM\, staying free of charge while expanding its community touch points\, emphasizing more community-building for artists of St. Louis. \nDecember 13: Sue Greenberg on How to Protect Artist’s Rights\nIn the third and final event Emerge Seminar\, Sue Greenberg\, executive director of Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts (VLAA)\, will provide an overview of VLAA’s legal and accounting services and professional development programs. You’ll also learn about how you can protect your rights as an artist and develop sound business practices.  \nLocation: Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis \nDoors open at 5:45 pm \nClick here to register. \nAbout Sue Greenberg\nSue Greenberg\, executive director\, joined Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts in 1986. She worked at The Muny from 1982 to 2021\, first as a stage manager and then as company manager. Sue also taught legal issues in the arts for Webster University’s Arts Leadership graduate program from 1991 to 2021. She is a graduate of Washington University\, where she majored in Art History and Urban Studies.
