SUMMARY:Film Screening: What You Gonna Do When the World's on Fire?
DESCRIPTION:CAM hosts the screening of What You Gonna Do When the World’s on Fire? as part of the 28th annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival. Directed by Roberto Minervini\, the documentary focuses on black communities in the South during the summer of 2017\, when a series of brutal killings of black men shocked the nation. The film exposes an America still linked to its racist past\, and celebrates those who struggle for justice against a tide of hate. Shown in conjunction with the exhibition Bethany Collins: Chorus. \nThis event features a post-film discussion with Dr. Rosalind (Roz) Norman (moderator)\, adjunct professor at Webster University and University of Missouri-St. Louis\, media literacy education consultant\, and advocate for arts and culture programs in underserved communities; Glenn Rogers (aka “The Black Prophet”)\, retired police officer\, minister\, and human-rights activist; and Dr. Jonathan C. Smith\, vice president\, Diversity and Community Engagement at Saint Louis University.
