SUMMARY:RE: Robotics
DESCRIPTION:Using Arcangelo Sassolino’s kinetic objects as a point of departure\, robotics maker and electronics expert Apollo Timbers leads a discussion on the technical and philosophical aspects of robotics in the present and future. With automated machines from drones to telepresence robots—remote-controlled\, wheeled devices with a display to enable video chat—becoming more and more common in everyday life\, how will our relationship with “bots” continue to change? Timbers will demonstrate a telepresence robot of his own making and facilitate conversation with the audience. \nApollo Timbers has been working with electronics and robotics for more than 10 years. He served six years in the U.S. Air Force. While in the military he worked on the missile guidance systems and electronic subsystems of Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM’s). He earned his associate’s degree in Applied Science— Electronic Systems Technology in 2011.
