The Collectibles will feature artist-designed products. Organized in conjunction with the exhibition St. Louis Collects, this companion exhibition will focus on objects conceptualized by some of the world’s most famous contemporary artists. The exhibition will reflect the infinite commercial possibilities for artist designed marketable fare: action figures, salt and pepper shakers, soccer balls, pillows, skateboards, lamps, and dessert sets, among others. Looking at companies like Parkett, Cerealart, and Robot Love, The Collectibles will present both limited and un-limited editions from across the globe. Featured artists will include established creators such as Pipolotti Rist, Takashi Murakami, Marcel Dzama, Laurie Simmons, Rikrit Tiravanija, Tobias Wong, and Yayoi Kusama while also introducing an emerging generation of artists. The exhibition will explore the novelty of the newly novel, and feature work from companies and collaborations that blur the boundaries between high and low culture.
