A Silver Linings Virtual Celebration
Co-Chairs Susan Barrett & Margaret McDonald
The silver lining of this year is the reassurance that art is unstoppable.
CAM prides itself in presenting the art of our time and making it accessible to all. The art of this time—The New Yorker quote above reassures us—is being made right now, a new art to help us make sense of a senseless world. Dada Ball celebrates art’s unstoppable force. Dada Ball raises essential funds for the museum, which means that whatever the art of this time may be, you’ll see it here at CAM. Dada Ball has its own silver lining—a reassurance that CAM has the resources to share the ideas, the meanings, the emotions, and the power of new art to come, whether at the museum, in schools, at senior centers, or online. Over the past year, CAM has delivered art experiences, on-site and online, throughout the pandemic. CAM, too, has been unstoppable, and thanks to your gifts, we may remain a shelter to many, whatever the storm.
Dada Ball arrives in spring, a time to hit refresh. We’ll be in virtual mode, but don’t let that dampen your Dada-bility. The evening will feature exclusive performances by Moor Mother, Tonina, and the Red and Black Brass Band and special appearances by celebrated artists Katherine Bernhardt, Big Freedia, Claudia Comte, Derek Fordjour, Hayv Kahraman, Marilyn Minter, Toyin Ojih Odutola, Pedro Reyes, Amy Sherald, Laurie Simmons, Nicola Tyson, and Lisa Yuskavage. Your ticket includes a cocktail-hour Dada Box filled with surprises so you can drink, nosh, dance, and play. Just as art and CAM are unstoppable, so is the Dada Ball, with an After Party Zoom Room for a pink cloud cocktail. Co-Chairs Susan Barrett and Margaret McDonald will be your co-hosts, so you know this Dada Ball will bounce!
Join us! Through your Dada Ball contributions, you’re our silver lining, too.
