Aneta Grzeszykowska (b. 1974) is a Warsaw-based artist whose photography, sculpture, and video works explore slippages between presence and absence. For her Front Room project, she presents her film Headache (2008), in which a seemingly dismembered naked woman’s body floats disturbingly and improbably against a stark black background. Grzeszykowska’s work has been featured in solo exhibitions at the Heidelberger Kunstverein, Germany (2010) and the Polnisches Institut, Dusseldorf (2007), and in such group exhibitions as Beg Borrow and Steel at the Rubell Family Collection/Contemporary Arts Foundation, Miami (2009) and the 4th Berlin Biennale, Berlin (2006). This is Grzeszykowska’s first solo exhibition in an American museum.
Aneta Grzeszykowska is organized for the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis by Dominic Molon, Chief Curator.
