ArtReach Intensives

Each academic year, CAM collaborates with a cohort of middle school and high school teachers to foster a community of practice and craft in-depth programs for their classrooms that are led by CAM’s Resident Teaching Artists. Participating schools enjoy a multi-part workshop and virtual or onsite tour of CAM’s current exhibitions.

2020–2022: GatewayGIS Neighborhood Banner Project

The Neighborhood Banner Project is a partnership between CAM and GatewayGIS. This multi-year project works with students at various educational sites to develop banners celebrating history of the neighborhoods surrounding the new National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency campus–focusing on African American leaders and heroes. CAM Resident Teaching Artists  lead students to create banners that will be displayed at the museum before being gifted to the community. Participating Resident Teaching Artists include L.M. Flowers, Kevin McCoy, Jayvn Solomon, and Simiya Sudduth.

Participating sites:

  • Herbert Hoover Boys & Girls Club
  • Grand Center Arts Academy
  • Vashon High School
  • Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School
  • Carr Lane VPA Middle School
