“Music as the Message: RECORDS” Performance

Music as the Message (MaM) was created in 2020 by Emmy Award-winning soprano Adrienne Danrich in response to the need for communal sharing and healing, despite our physical isolation in the wake of George Floyd’s murder. MaM’s mission is to create shared musical experiences, celebrating the unifying power of music to inspire healing, joy, laughter, love and most importantly, community. As part of a two-day retreat, two free public performances will be offered on March 21.

Following the 12:00 pm Music as the Message: If You Can Breathe, You Can Sing performance, join Amanda Austin (Soprano) and Gary Mitchell Jr. (Pianist) for RECORDS, a multimedia program that incorporates live painting and German classic song expressing the human condition as it relates to “peace.” This program will feature the music of Schubert, Strauss, and Mahler. RECORDS builds on Austin’s series of works that represents the colors and texture of the music, the story conveyed in the poetry, and the performance in which the artwork was completed.

At 2:15 pm, a calming, curated soundscape welcomes guests; the performance begins at 2:30 pm.
