CAM is pleased to partner with the annual Whitaker St. Louis International Film Festival to present films that explore the world of contemporary art through a cinematic lens. Uýra: The Rising Forest documents the story of a trans-indigenous artist who travels through the Amazon forest on a journey of self-discovery. Using performance art and ancestral messages in her creative practice, Uýra confronts structural racism and transphobia in Brazil while teaching indigenous youth.
