About Tiny Chef
Chef Melanie Hye Jin Meyer of Tiny Chef creates Korean-inspired street food. As a Korean-American adoptee, she started learning about the country from which she came and doing research to teach herself Korean cuisine. Meyer opened her restaurant inside The Silver Ballroom, a punk rock pinball bar in south St. Louis, and has since grown the business enough to support her travel to Korea to find her birth family. Her story of connecting with her Korean identity through food and locating her family in Korea has been published by national media including NPR and the New York Times—as well as her kimchi carbonara recipe.
