In conjunction with Like Water, CAM has commissioned a new performance by Houston-based artist Jamal Cyrus. He will be joined by musicians Corey De’Juan Sherrard, Jr. and Damon Smith, as well as poet K. Curtis Lyle to anoint a saxophone. Cyrus’s exhibited sculptures incorporate musical instruments and offer “opportunities to connect Afro-diasporic spiritual and musical traditions.”
