It seems forever ago, but at CAM’s March First Friday event, artist Janie Stamm taught embroidery to anyone who was willing to try, which became an ever expanding group of visitors before the evening was over. Janie was a teaching artist for LEAP Middle School Initiative this season, leading the young artists in the making of three-dimensional imaginary islands until everything had to stop. To help us all feel less like we’re stranded on our own islands, Janie offers up an embroidery tutorial to keep our hands and minds busy and creative when we need it most.
