North St. Louis Creative Field Guide

As part of CAM’s ongoing commitment to our northside neighbors, the North St. Louis Creative Field Guide is a resident- and artist-led project that treats the garden as an art studio that creates wellbeing, community building, and renewed investment in place.

Since 2024, lead artists Dail Chambers and Juan William Chávez and a working group have been developing creative projects that preserve and share knowledge about art and nature in North St. Louis City. Aspects of selected projects are on view through February 8, 2026 as a part of CAM Connect Showcase: Access is an Invitation. A forthcoming publication designed by Work/Play will be released in spring 2026.

Publication contributors: LaQuindlyn Binion, Cary Brown, Dail Chambers, Juan William Chávez, Gabi Cole, Alexis Creamer, Michelle Dezember, AleXeana harlem, Tosha Phonix, Ronda Smith Branch, and Frankie Williams

Community collaborators: City of St. Louis Planning and Urban Design Agency, Creative Reaction Lab, Northside Workshop, and Forest ReLeafaf

North St. Louis Creative Field Guide is organized for the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis by Michelle Dezember, Director of Learning and Engagement, and Alexis Creamer, Community Access Manager.
